Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964 is a Danish actor. He was a character in the drama series The Killing. Copenhagen mayoral election candidate Troels Hartmann in The Killing, a drama series,[1The Killing, Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third season of Sherlock and the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix as well as Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. He was presented with the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At 27 years old He enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from there in 1995. Apart from his part in the drama series aired internationally as The Killing, after that, he appeared in two other internationally highly acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also played a lead role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer, Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American TV series House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which aired in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm
