Taylor
Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomenons: a superstar who managed to completely cross over from country to the mainstream making her an iconic celebrity and then conquering the world in the process. Swift shed country like it was another layer, showing that she's perhaps the most intelligent pop singer/songwriter of her time. Someone who is able to harness the zeitgeist to make it personal as well as sing in the other direction. These skills were evident on her early hits including the Neo-Tribute Tim McGraw but her second album, 2008's Fearless showcased a songwriter discovering the person she really was, and in the process, finding an audience of mass. Fearless was successful not only in America, but also with six platinum-certified songs. The Top Ten songs Love Story & I Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. However, it did very well across the globe. Swift was able to consolidate her progress by releasing Speak Now almost two year following. The three albums that followed (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012 1989, Red 2012 along with Reputation 2017. her success only grew. It was a clear sign she had moved to an entirely new world of pop which she was able to fit into. Even when she scaled back her strategy with 2020's stripped down sibling releases folklore and Evermore she continued to be atop of the pop world a position that she maintained through re-recordings from her earlier catalog, as well as Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 collection.
